The Resume Lab is built in Melbourne by a founder who was deep in his own job hunt, and fed up with resume tools that get in the way.

The story

Built during a real job hunt, not a brainstorm.

The Resume Lab started when our founder, a final-year Business & IT student and two-time startup founder, sat down to apply for graduate roles at banks, consultancies and tech companies, and hit the same walls everyone hits: builders that charge you at the download button, templates that fall apart in ATS software, and โ€œtricksโ€ like hidden keywords that quietly get applicants rejected.

So he built the tool he actually wanted. Every feature here shipped because a real application needed it, the ATS keyword check, the spell checker, fit-to-one-page, the import that reads your old resume. Tested the honest way: on his own applications to the companies on our front page.

Four rules we don't break.

No paywall at the finish line

You never pay to download your own resume. Free while in beta, and the download button will never be held hostage.

Private by default

Your resume lives in your browser. Imports parse on your device, the spell checker runs locally, nothing is sent anywhere.

Honest with the machines

No hidden text, no keyword stuffing. Parsers expose those tricks to recruiters and applicants pay the price, so we refuse to build them.

Typeset like it matters

A resume is a typographic document. Margins, hierarchy and spacing are decided the way a book designer would decide them.
